Blowfish Design Hats started 4 years ago in the heart of mountains of Aspen Colorado. Everyone needs a hat, a unique hat, a colorful noggin protector to wear in the Summer and we saw a lacking of anything very cool out there to choose from. My husband, Chris Erickson, & Jason Albert are Aspen natives and they were hungry for their next small business endeavor.
Lots of hours of filtering through fabric, creating patterns searching for the right style hats, and sewing sewing sewing ensued and the Blowfish hat was born. It became quite the trend in Aspen as local outdoor enthusiasts wanted one to wear on their many adventures. The coolest thing about the hats is that each one is different and it became a simple way to express personal style through a one of a kind accessory.
Next thing you knew we went from selling them out of our backpack at outdoor concerts to selling them at local shops and large festivals in Colorado. We began making custom fabrics with local art on them and patches for local raft companies, yoga studios and even promotional hats for the Aspen Skiing Company.
The Blowfish team has since moved out to the shores of the Pacific Ocean for the time being in search of surf and new horizons and is continuing to sell the hats locally, online and beyond. Jason's wife, Megan, & I have now branched out into the baby world and are currently making and selling infant and toddler hats to go along with the signature Blowfish Style.
